Studied upright bass and music theory at the high school of Music and art.

Studied Guitar privately with Carl Faber and Bruce Johnson.
Studied percussion with Nana Vasconcelos. Studied drums with Art Lillard.


Through 'City As' High school, Gerardo apprenticed with musical anthropologist Verna Gillis at the Afro-Cuban Jazz club "Soundscape" and played and performed with the Talent Unlimited Youth Orchestra.

Played and performed with various New York Musicians including flutist Mark Weinstein, bassist Isaac Falu, drummer Sonny Nevius jr and keyboardist Pedro Etier.

Also began to compose music and write songs, some of which would be included on his later albums (e.g. "The Inspiration" and "weather change" off the "Grain of Sand" release).


|1985-1986|

With more emphasis on the shamanic he began working with acoustic percussion and bamboo flutes. Began to do multi track recordings of his polyrhythmic explorations. Some of which where later included on his CD releases
("Initiation" and "Procession" off "Rainforest Awakening " and "Sunrise" off the "Conscious Flow of Dreams ".)

Honolulu, Hawaii.
Began playing keyboards. Played with Greg Pai, Matt Moore and Tommy Hamasu's "Congress of Chattel" as a percussionist. Performed with Robert Aeolus Meyers for the Universal Dances of Peace.

|1989-1992|

Honolulu, Hawaii.
On Keyboards, Began to perform and record with the "North American Bush Band".
Recorded his debut album "Rainforest Awakening"

Honolulu, Hawaii.
Founded record label Earth Wave Productions.
Released
"Rainforest Awakening"
Recorded between 1990 and 1992, it features five musicians including himself.
Began composing and recording "The Conscious Flow of Dreams"


|1995-1996|
Honolulu, Hawaii.
Began working with Tokiko Hiyama DeSola a visual performing artist/ choreographer who is also a singer and songwriter. Accompanying her performances and recording music for one of the main guided meditations
in her workshop "Yu Me No Mai, a dance of dreams".
These recordings would later on be added to, remixed, mastered and released as
"Songs of a Distant Planet".
Completed the "The Conscious Flow of Dreams"

Honolulu, Hawaii.

Released "The Conscious Flow Of Dreams"
Recorded between 1994 and 1997. This 15 track recording, includes both instrumental and vocal pieces and showcases 16 other musicians who all represented different parts of the musical spectrum.


|Fall 1997|

New York City, U.S.A.
Working with 9 other international musicians and singers recorded, mixed and mastered"Grain of Sand". Also was involved in the creation of "You" an album of contemporary sufi music from the Halvetti Jerrahi order of Sufism.

Worked and performed with Greg Pai, Tokiko DeSola and "The Space Monks"
in a number of freeform improvisational performances.


|2000-2002|
Honolulu, Hawaii.
Studied web & graphic design and created the Earth Wave Productions web site.
Created the Earth Wave recording studio and
recorded and mixed the music for the 2006 release "Dreamstone," featuring himself and eight other musicians.

Honolulu, Hawaii.
Released "Grain of Sand"
Recorded in 1997 with nine other musicians and singers.
Began recording the music for "Tribal Warriors Travel Through Space".

Began performing on marimba and guitar with "Mabanzi Marimba."
Lead by Candice Pacheco - formerly of the band D'Cuckoo.- Mabanzi is a band dedicated to the music of Zimbabwe.

After a brief hiatus began working with Mabanzi Marimba again, this time on electric bass. Mabanzi is now an eleven piece band working on all new material and will begin performing again in 2008.
