express as we are carried of dancing into the distance.

6) INNER SANCTUM (5:00)
Gerardo Miguel Maza - keyboards
Greg Pai - trap drums

We descend our train at a grand outdoor market with
traders calling out their bargains as they compete with
each other to capture the attention of passers by .
A beautiful dance of structure and chaos
ensues as synth leads and jazz freestyle drumming play around musical building blocks that go through a
process of putting themselves together
and then taking themselves apart.

( 9/4 , 8/4 , 7/4 , 6/4 , 5/4 ,4/4 , 3/4 , 2/4 , 1/4 -- 9/4 , 8/4 , 7/4 , 6/4 , 5/4 ,4/4 , 3/4 , 2/4 , 1/4 etc.)

12) WATER CAVE
(2:22)
Gerardo Miguel Maza - keyboards
Sean Jones - bass
Greg Pai - trap drums

As a kid growing up on the island of Mallorca
in the Mediterranean I used
to love to explore underwater caves . In that
space between the earth and the
sea there is a unique energy . This piece begins
in this yin space and then takes
off into space.

(4:14)
Gerardo Miguel Maza - acoustic guitar and keyboards
Sean Jones - bass
Greg Pai - trap drums
Daniel Paul - tablas
Kola Robinson - congas

Our piece here is a ritual in 7/4 time .
It takes flight with ethereal synth leads,
finger-picking guitar and hypnotic percussion.
Our flight is guided by the dove,
a symbol of love , purity and the holy spirit
which is joined here with the mystical
number seven. Seven a significant number in
numerous paths of the spirit is also
the fusion of the yin element in 3 and the yang
element in 4.

15) SAILING AWAY (5:57)
Tokiko Desola - vocals
Gerardo Miguel Maza - acoustic guitar

We stand on the shore and wave to our loved ones
who are waving back to us from the ships deck.
They become smaller and smaller as the ship moves further and further away towards the distant horizon .
Here we have a melancholy duet of guitar and
voice about moving out of past denials and illusions
and into a unknown future. It is sung in Japanese
and done in a unique classic style.

THE CONSCIOUS FLOW OF DREAMS / STORY

My second recording, The Conscious Flow of Dreams, was made over a three-year period between 1994 and 1997. I had recently become a father, and that experience gave me renewed energy for creative work.

After working with Loren Lewisohn's script for Rainforest Awakening, I felt that I was ready to create another visionary album in which each piece flowed from the previous one. This time, though, I had complete artistic control. I wanted to work on a much grander scale. In other words, I was ready to take some chances and experiment with an even wider range of moods and styles.
I was creating my own reference map for this journey.

I spent the first year composing some of the main pieces and, as usual, looking for investors to help finance the project. I was also looking for the right musicians, and sometimes composing pieces with specific performers in mind. All in all, sixteen musicians participated in the recording and can be heard on this fifteen-track CD.

Although I was often only able to get into the studio once a month, by now I was learning patience, and I found that the essential inspiration of the music was so strong that it took on a life of its own. At that point, some of the reference points on the map began to change as I learned to go with the flow and trust in the unfolding process. I could foresee the final outcome by now, but even in the final stages of the work I was surprised by unexpected creative happenings that enriched the CD.

The Conscious Flow of Dreams originally appeared in 1997. For this reissue, I worked with a photo depicting Kilauea Iki crater on the Big Island of Hawaii and superimposed a drawing of a Hawaiian healer to match the shamanic force of the music. In the summer of 2001 I hiked through this volcanic crater and meditated at its center. While I was there, I experienced an awesome feeling of stillness and sensed the earth's potential to suddenly spew forth molten rock, destroying
the old patterns of life as we know it and creating new ones.
