ON THE CREATIVE PROCESS

Music is all around me. It’s part of the atmosphere. Through love I open to and connect with it and express myself through it -or it expresses itself through me.
This approach is shamanistic. I perceive everything in this world as alive, aware and responsive. I mean EVERYTHING not just the sounds of nature. I use those, and blend them with the living awareness found in the musicians, in acoustic and electronic instruments, in the studio equipment, in the sound effects provided by advanced technology. There are no limits to the tools I will incorporate in the process of creation. All these are alive. They respond and interact with each other and with all things.

My music is like a game. The game has rules, elements and variables: tempo, instrumentation, structure, improvisation ,form, performers, interaction. The fun of the game is in experimenting and changing these rules. I set certain limits to create a framework of continuity where things begin to flow naturally into each other the way water flows, or wind blows. You’l notice that in water and wind there is no monotony.

Instead, there are constant small changes. Sometimes even a tidal wave or a hurricane. In my work there is variety. It is not set in a single mode. It may lull you and transport you into bliss - then suddenly wake you up and start you dancing.

This music can be called world fusion or ethnic fusion for it reflects a universality of life in which elements from all over the world come together in unpredictable ways. Right now, at the beginning of the twenty-first century, it is time for us to break through feelings of separation and reveal our underlying unity. Time to wake up.
